I have made my mind up to have a go as well, we have a farm just up the road from us and a few years back I went to get some cockerel's from them to bring on for the freezer. The gave us a cup of coffee and even though the French take theirs black, the wife went to the to where the milk was being kept for the tanker and brought me some in for my coffee. It was pure heaven! So, cannot wait to have a try, would like to make cream as well even though I am not meant to eat any! Well done that girl!

I think you're right, we're so lucky with our local dairy farmer - I have complete sympathy with all the dairy farmers trying to eke out a living and it's one of the reasons I like being able to buy it direct, hopefully allowing the farmer to earn a living for their hard work. Halloumi sounds fab, I fancy trying that, and feta too.

You're right Joanne, it's similar to anything you've invested time and effort into, very satisfying. I think it's only worth the effort if you have access to good milk.
